At 19 years old At the age of 19, she dropped Here, her first song. It became a huge hit immediately with both critics as well as the fans were awed by it. The song reached the top spot at 19 on both the Canadian Hot 100 and Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named the hit one of the Best Songs of the year. This year she also released Know It All. Scars to Your Beautiful is one of five songs she wrote that made it to the Billboard charts. The track in question was unique as it was inspired by her interview with Rap-Up, many people shared their experiences through self-doubt and discovering how to love herself. Cara has earned a name for incorporating messages about the importance of mental health, kindness and self-love within her music. The music she sings is reflective of her personal battles with insomnia and mental health. In an Reuters interview, she describes the album as tumultuous and half perfected. She found growth through therapy and she encourages others to seek treatment if they need it. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on the 11th July 1996. She was given a guitar from her parents at the age of was 10 years old and it ignited her passion for the music. As a teenager, she started covering songs she like on YouTube to demonstrate to the public that she was talented and had the courage to pursue an opportunity as a musician. One of her tracks, Sweater Weather, was what made her stand out. EP Entertainment gave her the opportunity to create and sing her own tunes.
